primmers don't fit ???
« on: April 01, 2009, 07:44:36 AM »
primers act like the case still has a crimp?? midway brass.
I have a buddy that wants some 10mm loaded
he brought some cases and they are driven me NUTS.
I never had this problem exept for on 223 they act just like they have a crimp in the case. also the primmer pocket uniformer fit snug but it turned.
i do 99% rifle reloads and some pistol these days but very few i used to load tons of 357,44,45's never had this trouble.
any ideas ???
also fed goldmetal primers is what he has.

Well, for one Midway does not make or sell 10mm brass with their name on it. So, while I'm sure it came from Midway, it is some other name brand brass. I've never had the trouble you speak of with any of the brands of brass so I'd be likely to say unless A-Merc has started making 10mm it is not the brass.

I assume it is brand new? Have you tried running a light chamfer on the primer pocket and see if the issue goes away? have you tried to insert a uniforming tool and is it tight? What type of primer seating unit are you using?

AH! I have seen this with commercial once fired brass. One of two things here, the pockets may be dirty and/or the roll sizer may have been too tight. Clean the pockets and offhand try a different primer just for giggles to rule out that, If that does not do it, ship it back to Midway and have them credit you (or your friend) or replace it.
