« on: April 02, 2009, 01:17:00 PM »
i have a remington 700 bdl in very nice 90% condition it has the glassy stock and is overall like it came out of the box ,,, in 30/06 i wanted to trade for a .204 ruger  in a H&R handi rifle  the ultra varmint with synthetic stock skeleton type and 24 inch fluted barrel  with for the trade 10 boxes of factory ammo 32 grain for it now  i see im trading a rifle worth average of 650.00 for a 250.00 rifle brand new with ammo making a deal of about 400.00 all together is this a fair trade should i keep my rem 700 i really want a .204 but i can wait and buy one with cash from my stimulus payment of 250.00 as im disabled and only hunt fish and shoot

There is no way I would make the trade, although I don't think your BDL is worth anywhere near $650.  I don't know what they are going for these days but I got a like new Rem 700 BDL in .308 Win for $350 from Gander Mountain two years ago.

A fool and his rifle are soon parted.  Run from the H&R deal, keep your rifle.  These rifles are not in the same class or even in the same universe.  If you want a 204 then sell the Remington and buy a proper rifle.  Larry

Ditto what Larry said.  This is like comparing apples to lemons.

Nothing against the Handi, but if you have to part with it, I'd buy a new H&R to make that trade with you. I would not do it.

PS- let me know if you really want to trade for a H&R!

I bought a Remington 700 BDL, 1982 manufacture, 30.06 with 2 stocks, for $400 last year.

I've got several handi,  they are great. However not worth a 700 bdl.  Sell the Remington and get a savage or stevens.  Even with the depreciation of your rifle you should get enough to buy a decent repeater

Almost all my rifles are Rem 700 BDL and most of them cost right around 500.00 to 800.00
I bought them all new.
