A new Gonne for KABAR
« on: April 02, 2009, 01:58:40 PM »
As Most of you know the past eight or so months have been stressful to say the least,

I was contacted by a fellow member who gifted me a very nice Gonne in hopes it could

give me something to take my mind of care giving,  I am now the proud owner of the Gonne

pictured below, I would like to thank BillinOregon for his gift and thoughtfulness.

It will have a place of honor in my collection.

Soon it will be mounted on a nice oak shaft. I hope to get some smoke & fire soon!

My precision measuring instruments are at work but it looks to be almost 3/4 of an inch (Gaged with MKI eyeball)

I'll Check it and let you know tomorrow,

Lance,
Goex is all I have, you might say it's been a while since I bought powder..... how long has Goex been out of business?

I'd have to say that Bill in Oregon is one nice guy!  Can't wait to see some smoke and fire.  Don't let anyone kid you about using "vintage" powder.  That's the kind we use almost every week, and it just proves that the 70s were very good years for powder making.
Thanks again for your warm welcome and your generous hospitality you showed us during our visit last October.  It was great fun.

Best regards,

Tracy and Mike
Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

Some things are tradition here, like 'pre 1899'.   :D

Lance as soon as I have an empty one it's yours!  ;D or we can swap full ones at the shoot this summer.....

Actually I bought this stuff in the late 80's at Numeric Arms(Gunparts corp.)

when they were selling off the powder cheap because they weren't going to carry it anymore,

Allen, that sounds good to me, and a summer shoot would be great. I'll even throw in a full can of Elephant Black Powder.

This will have to do until we can get together, but the can is yours if you want it.

Well I finally found the Calipers, the bore dia comes out to .688

so I guess I won't be using my .69 cal balls in it. I'll have to check some antique ball molds

I have I may have one that will work.
