I have a light hunter.  Bought it to deer hunt with. Took it to the range and ran a box of .44 specials thru it and a half box of mags thru it. It is one sweet shooting revolver.  Those PC guys know how to build a handgun.  Sorry to say that I have not shot it since my initial range visit. It is nestle away in its aluminum case in my gun safe. Betwen the two you mentioned I would go with the light hunter.  JMHO.

I had a light hunter, but just sold it. It was a great gun, but I prefer my bigger bore handguns.

I bought one of these and need to go pick it up from the FFL:

Comes with a weaver rail top (similiar to the light hunter but extends back a little further)
I will be mounting an Aimpoint Micro on it

I picked up mine a little over a year ago:

I'm sure you will enjoy shooting this gun. For me, the factory grips are one of the nicest to shoot. They absorb even the hottest loads recoil. The gun is one of the most accurate shooters that I own. It's well balanced....and that front flo-orange site is one that looks ugly....but you sure can see it with eyes over 50!!!

Thanks
I was thinking I might need to change the grips but I don't think so..
and today I took off the aimpoint and was checking out the stock sight
yes, that front sight is VERY easy to pickup and has a nice crisp edge to it

what kind of loads (assuming you handload) have you worked up for yours

My favorite load is the Hornady 200gr. XTP over 24.4gr. of VV N-110. I have killed groundhogs in the summer at 100 yards with this gun and this load. I find that shooting at groundhogs in the summer will keep my handgun skills well in tune for whitetail hunting in the fall. If I don't shoot for a while, I have this bad habit of jerking the trigger which will cause the gun to tweek to the left just a bit.

Shooting at groundhogs will keep me in check. Nothing like that dust cloud of dirt just to the left of the 'hog to remind me to SQUEEZE the trigger!!!! .....and not just pull it!!!

I have the heavy bbl Comped hunter. The comp is removable and there is a BBL blank to put in it's place if you don't want the added noise. I have not shot it much but it shot my 300gr cast very well. I am beginning to think that the 300gr is the best 44 bullet weight. PC guns are a bit more pricey but usually worth it. J.Michael
