Problems with S&W customer service?
« on: April 03, 2009, 05:47:10 PM »
I called S&W about the rear sight on my 25-5 and was told I could send just the sight to customer service and attention "Larry" and did on 3/13/09 Post Office says they received it on 3/16/09, haven't heard a word from since. Called and left messages(about the sight and both phone numbers)with Larry's answering machine 3 times now with no replies? What's going on, are they on sabatical or vacations? Starting to get concerned over not getting the sight back(Larry told me that he would get it done and back to me,right away). Anyone else having problems with them?

S&W is in the midst of a Safety Recall on its PPK's, among other things.  That can be labor intensive and is probably draining resources.  The state of American business and personal finance sucks as well.

I responded to the S&W recall on 2/22/2009.  S&W sent me paperwork for that recall on 4/2/2009.  That's five weeks just for paperwork.

The current handgun, reloading, and ammunition demand is probably hurting S&W to fill the demand as their reallocated resources and manpower leave warranty and repair services lacking.

I would not be in a big hurry with S&W or anyone right now.

You want them to be nice to you.  Write them a short to the point letter.  BE NICE and BE PATIENT.

Steve, would it be easier to find a new sight, maybe a Numrich on-line? I did this one time for a cylinder to avoid what you are going through. Just a thought.

I'm being as patient as possible, and understand what your saying about the state of affairs in economy right now. Haven't owned a PPK since Interarms but so, was unaware of these problems. Thanks for the inside info.

LAND_OWNER.........That answer does not work with me because how much trouble is to pick up the phone and call and say we are sorry and over worked, and it will be a bit longer. one min or two.

I finally got through to Customer Service yesterday and talked to Jeff(I think). He told me that Larry has been missing quite a bit of work lately due to an ill spouce. Just want to say, hope she gets better soon and I didn't mean you or her any ill will.

Ditto.

There are some folks in 2009 without phones, without computers, without Internet (some still with dial up) and some even write letters via snail mail picked up from and delivered to their door all for only $0.42/stamp.  Pretty darn thrifty in April 2009.  Time we have.  Patience we need.  Instant gratification we should forget.  What did you say that 900-number was again?

Over the years I sent two back, a model 17 and a model 41.  Both were reworked and returned in a timely manner, course that was several years ago.

when/if I get my ppk back I'm trading it in for a Bersa. The customer service really sucks-I'm tired of their "it should be ready any day now".

I finally got it back this week after 5 months. Besides the saftey recall, they did lighten the DA and SA trigger pull considerably. See if it holds up at the range.
