My Encore experience begins...now a ????
« on: April 04, 2009, 03:22:22 AM »

I just picked up a used SS pro hunter action and stock.  It was on the rack at a local sporting goods as a full rifle in 22-250.  I wanted the action and another guy wanted the bbl so a sale was made.

When I get the action home I realize I cannot cock the hammer.  I am wondering if a bbl must be mounted up to allow the action to be cocked so I can test the trigger?

If not, whats going on???

Also, any problems with dry firing an Encore???

Thanks for your responses on this one.

Welcome aboard.

Either a barrel must be mounted on the action to cock it, or you must reach inside the receiver and push the safeyt latch on the side to the rear.

Not a good idea to dry fire an encore, or any single shot TC.

Dry firing an Encore will damage the firing pin return spring.
