I've been lookin for a good online pistol reloading manual. One that would give the different type and weight bullets along with the recommended amount of powder. I so far have been using Winchester 231 and hodgdon powder. Anyone know a place on the web that will give me the info i'm lookin for??? Thanks Chuck

Try a web search for "winchester 231 power" or some such.

I know that IMR Powder Company has online reloading data.

and YES, there are lots of private individuals that post websites with reloading data that THEY use.

I guess the question is, do you really WANT to try some unknown reloading advice from an unknown individual that can cause you and your firearms great damage?

Until you get to the advanced stages of handloading (I haven't gotten there yet) stick with pressure tested lab data from manufacturers. Just because Ol' What's His Fern hasn't hurt himself YET, does not mean a load is safe. He may have fired a 100 or a 1000 without incident, but it only takes that one. Most manufacturers like repeat business and blown up customers don't seem to buy much more, so I guess maybe that's why their labs post that data!?

I tried the search but all I got were burn rates. What I hope to find is an online book like speer or a power maker and use that. I have a couple books but they are older and don't show the power that i'm using. I was wanting to find a more update book online.

As has already been stated, don't trust online data unless you are sure of the source and the outcome. Turn loose of some of that moldy green and buy some reputable manuals. I will not only not trust online data, I always compare at least 2 or more manuals before starting to build a new load. I don't mean to flame you. It's just that I think everyone is better served if we all stay safe.

If you are trying to reload ammo and you don't have AT LEAST ONE new reloading manual the GET THEE OUT AND BUY ONE! Also all the powder makers put out free ones each year you can get for the cost of a phone call or post card. Many have toll free phone numbers so you don't even pay for the phone call.

Almost all manual publishers have the same data online, but its easier to digest in a hardcopy manual. I know Accurate Arms, Hodgdon, IMR, Nosler, Speer, Winchester and Alliant are all online. That said, remember one truth - you can never have too many loading manuals.
