Frontier & Imperial Brass
« on: April 05, 2009, 03:34:50 PM »
While sorting through some 30.06 brass I found a number of pieces of headstamped Frontier and some stamped Imperial. Does anyone know who manufactures these?

I had a lot of Frontier 270 that I got from Hornady Premium ammo.  That was in the 80's and early 90's.  More  recent Hornady is stamped Hornady.

Not sure about the Imperial Brass, but the Frontier is the old Hornady stuff. "In 1983, Frontier Ammunition and Pacific reloading Tools were renamed Hornady Custom Ammunition and Hornady Reloading Tools to reflect the merger of the divisions into one corporation."

Wasn't Imperial made in canada?? While you are thinking about it ,WHO made S&W 30-06 ammo? I still have 1/2 a box that was given to me by a coworker years ago!

jhalcott,

I think you are absolutely correct. After doing a little looking around, I found that Imperial Brass was (maybe still is?) made by Industries Valcartier Inc., Valcartier, Quebec, Canada. Brass with "IVI" as the headstamp is also made by the same company. Still looking for info on the S&W 30-06 ammo. If I find something, I'll post it here.

Here's one site that has a little info on the headstamps mentioned. The Canadian list is towards the bottom.

The S&W can be found on this site:
