Replica brass tube scope

Just got a .45 Hawken w/ a Tasco replica brass scope on it, just wondering if any of you guys have ever had one of these brass scopes and how it performed? Scope is 32 1/2" long and 3/4" dia. fixed 4x. Windage adjustments made via a screw assembly on the rear mount, elevation is adjusted by shimming under the front mount. Previous owner said he never got a chance to play around with it. Thanks for any input guys.

Have the Navy Arms version on the 36 caliber barrel of my switch barrel/switch lock TC Hawken.    A few longer range (for a RB ML) coyotes, fox and badgers sure didn't like it, but these old eyes do.

Ladobe, they sure do look purdy with that scope atop of em dont they? Your mounts looked to be the same as mine, do they seem to hold a good zero? What little info and reviews I have been able to find seem to indicate that the mounts are really lacking in that area. Looks to me a fella could make his own mounts from the appropriate brass stock though if need be.

I think the idea in the design was to stay as period correct as possible to the original early tubes that were around when these original rifles were.   Sure looks a bunch better than the abortions some folks create by putting a modern scope on a replica traditional sidelock.   But, it also makes for a very heavy rifle.

Never had any issues with mine not holding zero, but then even a full house load in the 36 really doesn't put much of a strain on it either.  It easily at least doubles the range I can reliably take predators and varmints compared to my CVA Squirrel 36 because of more consistent shot placement over using the CVA's iron sights.

Ladobe, thanks for the info. I agree they look much better than a modern scope on a traditional rifle, and yes it is a handfull as fas as weight goes. But I figure if it will hold a good zero its sure gonna make one fine rig to play with. Thanks again for the input.
