This is not the first time it has happened to Americans. It was going on in the 18th. century. Jefferson was President at the time. Around 1801. He had the brain power to send in the Marines's.(From the shore's of Tripoli) Unfortunatley, the HNIC, doesn't have that brain power. He'll probably bow to them, ask for their forgivness because were so arrogant, and give them a stimuless package of a couple hundred million, and ask them to please not do that again. gypsyman

I agree wholeheartedly..."ATTA-BOY.. SEALS" I was also pleased that the prez "saw the light" and let the "men who know how" do their job. Imagine how it would look if the administration allowed that lifeboat to drift to shore and the Al Shebazz (Al Queda) terrorists took the captain away from the pirates and immediately sawed the captain's head off with a rusty machete..( as they did to Nick Berg and Danny Perl).

Perhaps the SEAL commander used Gen Patton's quote..

One of the things I hated the most about the opposition to the GW presidency was how even when he did something right his detractors would still bash him, usually unfairly. I'm trying to be a bigger man than they were. This operation went well, and Obama handled it like the man in charge of the best armed forces in the world. Well done. Message sent. I won't bring my thoughts on other decisions when I'm evaluating this one.

You are correct pard, we should give credit where credit is due, less we act like the lefties!

I think this was a good thing, I wait to see how the Pirate problem will be handled down the road and if there will be Navy seals trained in the future or will their budget get cut and the navy dismantled like Carter, Clinton did!

It was not his first test.
The first was with Iran, he blew it.
The 2nd was with North Korea. Nothing.
I'd say it was his 3rd, at least as known to the general public.
He did OK on this.
However, I don't see any greatness on bo's part.
It was set up so that if this had failed somehow, it would have been blamed on the military. If it went well, he came out looking good.
I'm glad it was a success, and I have seen things handled worse.
But he is the President. That is his job. It says so in the title.
He is supposed to be capable of making decisions.
The most remarkable thing is that a left wing liberal idiot nut job, actually did not totally screw everything up.
How often does that happen?

I have seen him fail at every turn before this. Concerning this, my understanding is that he told the Mil. to act if they saw the Capt. was in danger. Well, guess what, the Capt. was in danger the whole time. I don't think the delay made sense, but other reason could be at play here. The mission ended well, thanks to the Military, I won't be too critical of BO in this one instant & everyone will do something right, even if only one out of a hundred.
Let's see if he goes after the other Pirates or does anything if they retaliate, this is probably one segment of a much larger action or inaction.

Some folks just have no idea of how our Spec Ops troops are selected for their dedication & ability..then trained to such a degree as many non-military experienced people cannot grasp. Spec Ops has a slogan; " The difficult, we do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer"..

Now Obama can field the same questions the media hit Bush with:

1) Why didn't the prez ask the UN for a declaration first ?

2) Why didn't he consult with the European "allies" first ?

3) Why in the world did he act "unilateraly" ?

4) Why didn't he call for 2 party talks with the pirate leaders ?

5) Why weren't the pirates given "due process" ?

6) Will this enrage the pirate "moderates" ?

7) Isn't he concerned with how people feel in the "pirate street" ?

Shouldn't he be ashamed of using "bullying tactics" on these impoverished people ?

9) Is it any wonder we are so "hated" around the world ?

....What's the chances the liberal media will ask Obama these same questions which they badgered Bush with for 8 years ?
