First Carjacking
« on: April 11, 2009, 08:14:24 AM »
This is the first carjacking I have heard of here in Fairbanks.  Things like this just don't happen here.  A masked man came up to a pregnant woman, pulled a gun, knocked her to the ground, and stole the truck she was driving.  Things like this have started happening since the big build up at Fort Wainwright.  The Army have been bringing in some seedy characters from Southern California, St Louis, and Chicago.  Either the solder or his dependents have been or are gang members.

The men in this town are hot, and I do mean hot.  A good description of this person has been given, the truck is known around town, and the license plate number has been posted on the news and websites.  Several men have said, they are out searching.  If this guy does not turn himself in soon, his safety can not be guaranteed.  A few have openly said this guy had better hope they are not the ones to find him.

Items from the truck have been found at the transfer site, (local dumpster site) and the ladies wallet was found along a road.

Rules here in the Last Frontier, you don't mess with women, and you never even think about messing with a pregnant woman.  I'd hate to be in this guys shoes.  This has really gotten the community stirred up.  If found by the right people, he might get the opportunity to go for a one way hike in Grizzly country.  It's happened before, and can happen again.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Things like this should not happen ANYWHERE.  I am not a big proponent of vigilante law, but when you can't count on the "real" law to protect you and your property.  Well I guess grizzlies gots to eat...

A question often heard here is "What would Jack Bower do"?

Public executions worked wonders as a crime deterrent for decades.  Why did we get away from them?  Civilization would be a lot more civil if everyone knew exactly what the consequences of violent misbehavior was.

Brett,
I agree with the sentiment but, I think that it would only provide a "soap box" for these POS (pieces of s__t) to climb up on.  It is the MEDIA that glamorizes anti-social behavior!  It is COOL for gangbangers to rape and rob the innocent.  You don't believe me?  Who would televise a 35mph car chase down a Santa Monica freeway?  Better yet WHO WOULD WATCH THIS CR_P???

It is a human condition to deal in negatives.  For instance, "Taste this it is awful", "That plane ride was terrible" etc.  The underlying problem is when thes negatives run our society.  One of the first things computer programmers realized was GIGO (garbage in/garbage out).  That pretty well sums up the media in general...

I think that there is much more Bear food out there...

I stand up for the military but this recruitment of gang members is not right.  Same thing has happened at every large Army base.  Lawton has had at least two murders by gang members.  They killed rival gang members who were also Army.  One case may have involved an M16 rifle.

You have to protect yourself, the law only cleans up the mess, they cannot be everywhere to protect everyone! If this scum bag gets eaten by a grizz so be it!

The truck has been found.  A guy was cutting it up in a commercial garage with a torch.  He does not match the description of the masked carjacker, but he has a record and the police have him in custody.  The police are now looking for a second vehicle ( a Suburban) that has a unique paint job.  Won't be long till it's found in this town.

I think they knew the vehicle was too hot and could not be see around town so they tried to cut it up and get rid of it.  It had became too big a liability, it would draw too much attention.  I also think the perpetrator is now running scared.  Too many people have openly said what they will do if they catch this guy, and Fairbanksians are usually taken seriously with things like this.

My wife calls some of us a "Bunch of redneck hot heads"  I correct her with "We are a bunch of independent thinking people who feel we know right from wrong. And are not afraid to act on our convictions".

The two horse thing sounds good, but I really wish we had a few Grizzlies in Alabama.  A bad guy turned into bear poop might even be good for the environment. ;D

Actually I would prefer to see 4 horses, preferably draft type,  one tied taughtly to each limb and set off in different directions....sort of like a prelude to drawing and quartering.
