1100 Trap Gun Question
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:20:19 PM »
I am shooting 16yd trap on a team with some co-workers.My only 12 ga is my deer gun,I have been using one of my 20 ga shotguns. They are all 26'' barrels , so I ran across a good deal on an 1100 trap gun with 30'' barrel and fixed full choke. Will the full be a problem at 16 yds? My 20 has a fixed mod choke and  I shoot about 17 to 19 a round with it.I think this gun feels more stable than my 20 ga guns but haven't shot it yet. Plus I think I could let the birds get out a little more than I do now.How do you like these guns.

For 16 yards I like a more open choke than Full but it's workable. Just wait a bit and let them get out to where the pattern opens a bit or have a smith open it up for you or have screw in chokes installed. A new barrel with choke tubes would not be that expensive either.

i love them for trap thats what i shoot i have one for my primary gun and my back up gun is exactly the same. i have 5 trap guns and always shoot my 1100 trap i choose it over my 2 krieghoff 32"s and my bt-99.I dont think the full choke is to tight if you dont like the full i would get another barrel i wouldnt have any work done to that barrel as it will kill the value of that barrel
