Shotgun Wads

How do know if wads are too old.  I have Win wads that have been in the attic for at least 5 - 7 years.  They seem fine and are not brittle.  Seem to have compression.
Your advice.

I'd use them. My biggest concern is brittleness or other hardness.

Polypropylene shotgun wads have an almost indefinte shelf life, even under garage and attic storage condiitions.  They will, however, deteriorate in a couple of seasons if exposed to strong UV or direct sunlight exposure.

i don't know what got to mine but i remember when i got back into shotshell loading that i had a bunch of  WA12 and AA20 wads that you could just crumble up....i also remember another time that someone gave me a bunch of wads that had been in an attic and they were the same.....DICK

I've checked all that I have from the attic and they seem equal to some that I just purchased.  There is no brittleness or change in color.  I did notice that one bag (bag only) had openings but contents were fine.  This bag was on top of the others in an open box.

I have Rem 20 ga wads that I bought in 1974 that I still use for reloading and the 750 that I have left are as good today as they were the day I bought them for $1.29 per bag of 250.
