Extra space with Short Mags

Rifles like the standard BAR (NOT the Shorttrac) and the Benelli R1 seem to use the same action for the short WSM cartridges as they do for the long ones.  Where is the extra space?  Can you load WSM's to a longer OAL in either of these rifles?

If they will fit into your magazine and don't touch the lands Yes.
