Action questions--
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:56:08 PM »
IS the NEF/H&R Model 176  10 gauge a SBI
or a SB2 action?

Are there any SB1 action/barrel combos  that used the larger
diameter barrel breach like on the SB2 10ga/12ga Ultra?

What actions were made just before the SB1 and SB2s?  Ed

Thanks- Is it, the 176, a model with breach size like SB2 or SB1.
The SB2s I have here are about 1.200" breach diameter,
the SB1s are about 1.115". Ed

Ed,

The 176 was made by the original H&R that went out of business in 1986, they didn't offer a different frame for their rifles and shotguns, they were all the same cast iron frame, H&R1871 started offering SB1 and SB2 frames in 1987, cast iron SB1 for shotguns/muzzleloaders, heat treated investment cast alloy SB2 for rifles, the SB2 10ga frame is basically an SB2 frame hogged out for the larger barrel with a larger firing pin.  ;) Dunno about the M176 other than that.
