Spring rat glands?
« on: April 19, 2009, 04:45:59 AM »
Been catching a few rats while beaver trapping. Been saving the large glands. What are they good for? What animals do they help attract? Are they used in lures for rats?

Shawn, rat glands are used in several different lures.
If those beaver I saw in your photo were caught om Moundmaster, have you found both to be equally effective?

Tom, most of the beaver were caught on #1 due to#2 was lost in the back of my truck. Also caught 1 on the stuff I made. Maybe I'm all wet, but I think #1 is better in the spring and #2 is better in the fall.

LOL, you have to set them 50/50, no matter how good it is#2 isn't going to catch any --in the back of your truck.
Over the years of keeping track, one or the other would jump ahead--but in the end, everything was close to even.
Will be trying out MM#3 this spring, this one is liquid. Some guys are always asking for what you don't have, so I am just playing a bit with #3.I will use all 3 in equal numbers and keep score.

I'll know more with the next check. I thought I lost that jar of lure on the line. What really made me mad was I didn't even open it yet. I have to make little numbered flags to put on my mounds to remember what lure I used. When will #3 be ready? Do you need some help testing it?
