New Pipes
« on: April 19, 2009, 06:07:00 AM »
Here is a link to  pic of the new exhaust system i ordered and should receive tomorrow. They will replace my partially stock system that i do not like. The stock pipes go above and below the passenger foot peg. This has burned holes in my wife's boots and will not be allowed to happen again, plus I think the look very nice.   ;D

Those do look nice. Post a pic when you get them on.

Is there some kind of muffler in those?

I don't like stock exhaust either. I put straight pipes on my sportster when I had it. My friends made me ride in back. ;D

My ultra classic is a little louder than stock. It runs pretty quiet when you're cruising or idling but it has a nice throaty growl when you rack the throttle.

Yes, there is a baffle in that large pipe, and it is "removable". You know what they say, loud pipes save lives and irritate neighbors.  :o

2-into-1s  really have a distinctive sound. I have a thunderheader on my dyna and love the sound, a little louder than I would like on a long ride, but when you clutch it and blip the throttle- the soccer mom in the minivan doesn't make the no-look-lane-change she was about to do! You probably will have to ride on the right side of the lane in a group though.

Cheese is that a fatboy? I had two of those an 89 (black) with a cam that would do 135 top end, and a 95 aqua-pearl and silver that was one of the best looking bikes I have ever seen off the show room floor!
My 93 Electra glide was the best riding bike I ever had, It had a Corbin seat with a back rest, I had double exhaust on it that ran under the pegs so no problem with the heat. I liked the mufflers so I could hear the tunes! But I'm an old fuddy dud!  ;)

I still think the fattys look the best!

Nice pipes there Cheese!   ;D
I understand those 2into1 pipes have a distinctive, and GOOD, sound.  I'd love to hear them... without the baffles of course!   :D  Do a sound bite for us!

May be evident that I'm not much of a cruiser or HD person per say but I must be coming around.  LOL  I actually like those pipes.  They have a clean look but in a sort of "fat" way.  Nice.  I'd leave the baffles in myself (hate that excessively loud fodder)  Maybe with the money no longer being needed for her new bots a few more accessories can be added too.  ;)  Worth a shot. Here is a link to my You Tube video. The sound seems to be distorted and I will make another attempt in the future.

Question, does the highway heat ever harass you guys there for loud pipes? Not sure that is done here any more but it used to be a major problem here in the republic of Texas

Sounds sweet cheese! A little too loud for the camcorder though ;)

Got on mine once pretty hard going thru a tunnel, a trooper came up behind me, tailed me for a bit to let me know he heard me, didn't pull me over though, wheew.

"Ticket getters" for sure!!  Sounds good. Do ya think it runs a little better?? The big outfits like V&H spend tons of money on development and dyno work, and the pipes probably made it a little stouter. Just wondering if it's enough to feel. Sure as heck sounds like it did anyway.

V&H Longshots on OL's bike (uncorked) did make a difference, not all that loud unless you really get on it - then all the head work and cam comes together.

They were just a bit loud for the camcorder as said but still sounded very good on the Bose system three sitting here in front of me.

I do think it runs better. I definatly notice more low end torque and that is a nice feeling.
