I like lead BB's or #2 shot if you can find it. I have heard heavy shot works well too but, $$$ being tight I go for the lead as a matter of economy.

#4 shot is getting on the small side is getting pretty small for coyotes unless they are pretty dang close. try anything between BB to #4 buck works good. federal #4 copper plated buck seems to shoot good for everybody. i really like the remington wingmaster in BB's it is very expensive, but it is amazing stuff, the penetration at 50yards is unreal. quite often rem. has rebates on it which get it down to $15 a box of 10, whish is reasonable. besides how many are ya going to burn up in a day. no matter what ya decide to do throw a few down range, check the patterns and make sure they're hitting where they should be. good huntin.

I would think Cabela's Hevi-Shot "Dead Coyote" would be a good place to start. It's heavier than lead "T" shot claims to take your 40-50 yrd gun out to 100yrds. Kurt

the best load is the one that patterns best out of the choke that you have, Id stick with BB or larger, Plain ol #4 buck has been knocken em dead for a long time and alot cheaper than the hevi shot. I ordered a bunch of Federal lead BB online and it patterns well and fairly cheap.

Take it out and pattern some different loads in it to find out what it likes.  For yotes youll want to have a nice tight pattern at 40.

Good luck, patterning is spendy, painful but well worth the effort.

Yea but he didn't say nothin bout price. If it was me I'd take about 10-15 00 buck pellets and about 3-4  .32 round balls mix in some buffer after stuffin it into a brass 12case and see how that patterned. :o Kurt

I get pretty goog patterns out to 40 yrds with a modified choke and #4 buck. I have been using it for a while now and it seems to worek rather well.

Looks like might have to setup some reloads for the #4Buck for the Old Pardner 10 gauge. I would think if patterns were sufficient that one might be succesful at 55-65 yards on coyotes with this load.
Rocky Mountain Cartridge manufactures 10 gauge brass and reloading implements for the 10 gauge.
Might even try some blackpowder loads!
