Is anyone familiar with D A Van Horn barrels
« on: April 21, 2009, 05:30:44 PM »
I have been offered a Encore barrel in 35 Whelen.  It is a 20" heavy to medium taper stainless steel barrel.  It comes with a forend that is pillar block beded to the barrel.  Has anyone had experience with this manufacturer?

I have a 20" carbine bull barrel in 45 Colt for my Contender. It's an older barrel and I bought it used (traded for it I think-I've had it for a while). It shoots great, locks up tight and solid on my frame, bluing and rifling are both excellent. I'm happy with the quality of mine. If the price is right, buy it.

Thanks Slim.  The price is just about what I would pay for the T/C custom shop plus I get the bedded forend.  It works for me; I'll let you know how it shoots

That sounds like a bargain.
