Remington 700 Feed Problems
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:57:32 PM »
Ive got a Remington 700 in 223 with built in box magazine that always kicks the  base of the second round out of the magazine and stove pipes when trying to chamber it quickly. If I go slow it actually leaves the gun. I tried compressing the spring to reduce tension and then nothing worked, I had to stretch it back out again to return to normal. The Z shaped spring seems to be  almost at a 90 degree angle with the plate and is difficult to get back into the box when putting the stock back on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a feed lip issue to me.  I'd try a new magazine box.
