Not happy with my new/used .270 Ultra
« on: April 23, 2009, 05:02:06 AM »
Well maybe that's not all true...
It only took one night to get the barrel shimmed up, I shot it offhand at 75 yards and it shot a 5 shot 2" group with core-lokts with no work to the trigger and my "shotgun" trigger finger, it has little to no recoil, it balances way too well and it isn't as loud as I thought the comp would be(with hearing protection of course).

I was thinking it would be more of a project, but damned it's nice. I will say,not having owned a rifle with a comp before, it's the pressure coming off of it that'll part your hair, but I can't wait to shoot in off the bench. I didn't have a lot of time to shoot it, but I just wanted to see if my shim would hold and that it would produce a group and not a pattern. Got the shell holder band for the stock and with an ejector bbl, I'm pretty sure I can get a quick follow-up shot in if needed. Yup, I'm hooked.
Thanks for the guidance on this one,

It sounds like your shim worked well. As does your satisfaction with your UC.... so what's the problem?  8)
Enjoy
