Lost My dad,,,,Dont make em like that anymore!
« on: April 26, 2009, 06:06:50 AM »
I know my dad (born on the 4th of july 1929)was not a member here but when he passed on April 7th, the world lost a great man. Hunting and fishing was a way to survive in the mid 1930,s and 1940,s for him in the hills of Letcher county Ky, not just a sport. He always had time for us kids to shoot/hunt/fish and taught us most every good lesson of life he could. He served in the Army during the Korean war honorably/retired from GM after 32 years in 1983. He faught cancer and beat it/clogged arteries and beat it/but sucombed to 2 bouts of Pneumonia. Now my mom is grieving to death and last week she fell and busted her ribs and pelvis and wound up in the hospital.......I haved logged 4 trips to Ohio since november and looks as though another is going to happen soon,,,,Art / I owe everything 1 fine man,,,My Dad.

My deepest condolences, your father and my father both did the same thing during the depression to survive. They were of a great generation and I used to sit and listen to him and my uncle talk about the hard times and admired these men, they had great life experiences and great stories.

My Condolences! They were a good bunch of men those, that grew up during the depression. I lost my Dad in 99, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss Him. He was born July 28, 1927. Passed July 3 1999.  Thanks for making this post, My Prayers go out for your Mother!

Art,
I lost my dad in '87 and as I get older, my respect for him still grows. My Dad also suffered a lot in his later years - we didn't always get along when I was young, but I sure did everything I could to take care of him.  Time will soften the pain for you, but know that you honor his peace all the more with your faithful caring of your mother.  God bless and comfort you all.
