7mm-08 velocity question
« on: April 26, 2009, 12:56:14 PM »
I'm wanting to get a 7-08 barrel for my encore and I my google fu isn't working today.  I can't find any velocities for the 28 inch barrel.  Does anyone have one or know how fast they are shooting.  I'm wondering because i've really not made up my mind on the caliber.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Well I'm not the authority on ballistics, but usually you should add 50 fps to published factory ballistics since they test them from a 24" barrel.  Therefore you should gain roughly 200 fps, but that also would depend on the amount of powder charge in the case.

Good luck with your research,

shooting 139 grain Hornady sst's with 45.5 grains IMR 4064 I get 3068fps pretty consistantly (+or- 5fps) out of my 28 inch Pro Hunter 7mm.08 barrel
