Yeah I have Twitter account. I rarely tweet myself though - I mostly just subscribe to other's.
Essentially, people sign up, and you can then "follow" that person. Friends, celebrities, websites, whatever. When that person then "tweets" a message (basically like a txt message on a phone), it goes out to everyone who is following them on twitter. You can also send direct messages but that's kinda defeating the point of the app (ie, direct messages were working just fine with email and regular SMS messaging
).
It can be fun, and useful depending on how you schedule things. A friend might tweet out for example "Party at my place - Friday evening". Then nobody has to wonder and call around when they ask "I wonder what Mike's doing this weekend . . .". Or sometimes just random thoughts. It's just another way to communicate, which is always good
