Beeman 22/177 cal pellet gun question/my results
« on: April 27, 2009, 04:29:56 AM »
Looking for information.  I bought a beeman 22/177 pellet rifle combo from a local sporting good store with the agreement if I did not like it I could rturn it.  I shot it about 150 times with 22 cal then switched to 177 cal.  I am impressed with the 177.  Shooting in strong winds I could connect with a pop can full of water at 65 yards.  Not every shot but I felt I was the weak link not watching the wind.  So should I stick with this combo or is there something else out there better for the 150.00 class first time springer buyer.  I will say I am somewhat hooked.  The thing is a little hard to shoot, follow thru seems critical to good results.  But its kinda cool knocking starlings off and not running off the bluebirds and robins you hope to keep, unlike using a 12 ga where the report makes everthing leave.  And never in my wildest imagination did I think this thing could connect with a empty 22 shell box at 65 yards, with no hold over, that is just the very definition of BA.  Help a first time springer out and tell me what I should and should not do to keep a springer healthy.  And if this is a keeper, or return and upgrade before the chinese thing stops working.   Thanks SN

Many of the "Brand Name" air guns are made in China and marketed under other names.

It will bring home the main component of Squirrel dumplings, gravy and biscuits no matter if it is made in china or not... The QB78 is an excellent Co2 rifle and it too is made in china. Below is a Squirrel with each caliber from the Beman

Here is a coon i got with the old beeman as well i found that the .22 cal barrel works better for me but i have taken coons and oppossum with both . this coon and oppossum  i took at just over 32 yrds , dropped with one head shot.

the .22 barrel does seem to be more accurate.
main target with mine is tree rats though.

Just got some of the heavy Beeman "Kodiak" pellets
for mine, Very Accurate. Slower of course. Plenty of penetration
for sure. Shot a squirrel yesterday (larger one in pic), pellet passed through
at about 15 yards, deflected off a limb behind it, then a loud thump as it
hit something else. finally a nice whistling sound as it came back and passed pretty
close to me. The second smaller tree rat the pellet passed through from head to tail.
This one being at about 20 yards. Not bad for an airgun.
