I finally got an hour this morning to head out squirrel hunting, the wife and 4 month old were sleeping, otherwise I don't get much time for hunting. Got into the hardwood stand at about 7, shot the first and only squirrel at about 7:10, a nice red fox doe. I saw one other one, a nice gray, which I have never shot before, so I was disappointed I didn't get it, but maybe I'll get him this evening. I heard several others barking at me, but I never saw them, very thick stand of hardwoods and poor light this morning, lots of cloud cover. It's the first I've taken with my great-grandpa's Steven's 44 1/2 target rifle. Snuck up on one whitetail, spooked a few others, could have easily filled a tag with my pistol had it been the season, but alas, all I could do was enjoy seeing them.

It was a great morning to be out, I can't wait to go again.

PS I did forget how darn tough the little buggers were to skin though!
