How long to leave springers and pump ups, under pressure?
« on: April 29, 2009, 04:12:32 AM »
I have owned both pump ups and springers and am not sure on how long to leave them like that.  The instruction manuals for the RWS say to not leave it cocked and springed up, but if you are hunting, is a few hours ok?  How about pump ups like the Benjamin or Daisy?

I have a book on American air rifles that mention a seal test of pumping up the gun, waiting 30 minutes and seeing if it still holds air.  I had a friend who had a Spanish made Winchester brand springer that he left cocked and ready to fire all the time.  As this was a low end gun it was noticeably weaker than the high end stuff I shot when we had a few hours with old cans, but am not sure if that was because he left it cocked, or it was cheap.

Thanks.
