Stuffy,

The Former Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact forces used bakelite AK magazines extensively.

I've seen both Russian/Soviet and East German AK magazines at gun shows recently.  "Pre-ban", of course.  You should have no trouble locating them from ads in Shotgun News and The Gun List.
