Forend stud broke off
« on: April 30, 2009, 04:29:36 AM »
I have a mid-80's 20 g. bbl off of a model 088 shotgun.  A friend had borrowed it and the screw stud had broke while he had it.  After a couple of years I got it back and he had gotten it "repaired'. It looked like it had been brazed to me.  Yesterday, after firing 2 shots, it did it again.  Has this happened to anyone else and what can be done to fix it??  JB weld??  Was this typical of 80's quality??  Any help would be appreciated!!

I've epoxied a couple, one with JB weld and the last one with SuperWeld, both have held so far. Silver solder may be a better option unless you can have it MIG welded. Current production studs are resistance welded on.
