GBO,
Let me state my position.
I have never owned a scope!!
If the Handi-Rifle I purchased had open sights I would not be buying one now.
That said I tried to do my homework on scopes.
I looked at Leopould , Burris , bushnell , and Barska web sites!
Comparing the specifications on all of the manufactureres I found little or no difference in their claims.(except in price)
I asked on this site under Handi rifles and here on the optics site.
I also asked the question on the castboolits web site.
The answers I got were to say the least unflattering.
Everything from why did I buy a junker rifle to start with to If it ( the scope) cost less than a thousand it's junk.
I am beginning to think no one has ever tried a barska scope as It doesn't fit their image!!
I am also not sure most know what I want to do anyway.
I don't shoot paper.
I don't shoot at 1000 yards.
I do not kill anything I do not intend to eat.
After all of that what I wanted was a scope that is reasonably good to 250 yards so I would be able to decide if I even wanted a scope period.
A decent gunsmith can remove the ramp and install open sights for me.
So I thank you all for giving me your predijuces and dislikes , I will be sure to try out the Barska scope since everyone here hates it so much.
Heck I might find it's a pretty decent scope, but Thats just one old guy with bad eyes opinion
