The Next Step
« on: September 14, 2003, 02:20:14 AM »
After much thought, frustration, and dissapointment in the availability of left handed guns, I have ordered  the new Kimber 8400 in .270 WSM in left hand.   Availability to be early next year.  I have not ordered rings yet because of the scope decision.   I have recommendations for the 3x9, and 3.5x10 range.  Majority of my hunting will be on the east coast.   I think the 1.5x6 range would be okay on the right coast.  I dont understand the field of veiw entirely.  Also should the 1" vs 30mm be part of the scope decision?   Will the field of view at 6 power be different for a 1.5x6 vs a 3.x9/3.5x10.    I believe a 6 power will be more than adequate for any shot up to 300 yrs, better than my skill at this time, and if I ever get to go hunting in the west, I will just have to justify a new outfit.  I am sure my wife will understand  (maybe).    Thoughts on brands is welcome also.  Thanks for advice.
