Kroil, please explain?
« on: May 02, 2009, 09:46:13 AM »
I hear a lot of people here use Kroil for different things when it comes to gun cleaning. Would someone please explain to me why this is such good stuff (does everyone agree that it is?). Is it just oil? What else is in it? I've heard some people use it all by itself to clean their bores. That's all they use.

Thank you!!

Kroil will penetrate into very small cracks, thus it will creep between the barrel and the fouling and make the fouling easier to remove

Does it contain any solvents? Can you use it to clean and protect from rust then store your gun?

Thanks

Kroil is a great penetrant and aids in cleaning, but is poor protectant.

it penetrates so well if left to soak overnight will get under leading in a gun and help alot with its removal. Like was said your not going to get much protection out of it though. WD40 isnt as good of a penetrator but since it is a water displacer will protect better.
