Loose forstock

The forstock on my year old 444 wiggles around a little bit.  The screws are tight.  A local  gunsmith told me it wasnt anything to worry about, but some glass bedding up where it interfaces with reciever could solve the problem.  I am not particularly psyched about a loose stock.  Anybody else have this issue?  Is it common?  Is glass bedding the answer?

ive run it to that with sum guns i have, usually in the winter. i have wood heat and it makes the house extremely dry and  as a result, my stocks dry out and shrink as well.any chance this is yur prob?if not yu mite think of shimming the forestocks with sum gasket paper or foil?ive not found it effects accuracy much on a lever rifle but i could be wrong.. let us know what yu figger out.

In Montana, the humidity level is so low that it will dry anything out.  That just might be the situation.  The forstock was not like this when I bought it.  Last hunting season it was in some very wet situations and got really soaked a few times.  It has dryed out since obviously, but wasnt used much between January and April.  It just seems to have loosened up when I started shooting it again.  So, it does seem to be quite probable that the wood expanded and then shrunk.   
  Thin gasket material huh?  Real simple and cheap, I like it.  I think I will try that first.  Thanks for the good info and ideas.

I have the same problem with my 336.I live in Florida where humidity is always high.
Where exacty do you place the gasket material? Do you glue it,or leave it loose?

Does it matter which material to use?

I am full of lot's of things,questions are just one of them. ;D

Dumbest thing I did (recently) was to try some 147FMJ Contender loads in my Marlin 30/30.
I loaded one in the tube,with the intention of one in the chamber as well.
Found out that the 147's were seated to long to clear the tube.
I had to push a cleaning rod down to "shorten" the round.
My buddy had a good laugh over this one.  Who knew! ???
