The Pirates proved themselves good for something back in August.  They prevented a World War when
they boarded a Greek Flagged ship bound for Israel (via) Iran.
Breaking into a computerized container listed as "ORE" . Within days most all the Pirates were dead from a painful sluffing off of the flesh from exposure to a "Dirty Bomb" destined for Israel.

The MV Iran Denayat carrying tons of minerals from China to Iran was hijacked Aug 21, 2008. Many of the pirates died of strange sickness. Only articles I found were in African papers though.

Yes;  the ships intention was to fake a distress call near the ports of Israel, requesting emergency docking, then the bomb would be remotely detonated.   Tens of thousands were expected to be immediately killed, with thousands dieing off throughout the following months.   As it was 24 of 25 Pirates died.

The French are suffering from the same malaise we have recently contracted ... a socialist intelligencia in control of the government. I'm not convinced the actions of France in recent history reflect the will of the French, which are only slightly over 50% of the country's population I think. No matter, enemy of my enemy is my friend.

From what I read the mother ship was even there, it should have been sunk, along with the others and NO survivors, well, maybe one to tell his Godless brothers. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

You know I am sure the navy still has some old WWII PT boats in the inventory.  Why not send some of them over and put them on patrol.  They are faster than big ships, and well armed.  Seems like they used a newer improved version in Viet Nam.  So find them, pull the out of storage, and put them to use.  Or arm some of those ocean going speed boats they confiscate doing drug intervention work around Florida, and San Diago.   

I read that when the French realized they were being looked at the French turned into the sun, so the pirates could not identify them.  The pirates not able to identify the big ship, thought it was a good target.  Guess they were surprised.

They weren't exactly our friends then, either. They weren't getting along with the English and supported us to make trouble for England, sort of a proxy war. The threat the French posed to England kept most of the English troops in England and Europe. On the other hand, it was the threat the English posed to France that kept the French from conquering the Colonies and the rest of North America above the Mexican desserts, and they would have. "Louisiana Purchase" ring any bells?

In any case, that was the Bourbons, the royalty running France at the time. Since then, anyone allied with the French has suffered more damage from the alliance than they ever gained.  French soldiers are good, but that is in spite of their senior officers and politicians.

Billy, there's things the press just does not mention. I've heard a bit about that incident and the deaths of the pirates but did not dig any deeper.

The US fedgov cannot be trusted to keep us informed of this sort of threat. They hide it partially to avoid giving bad guys ideas (as if they don't pass ideas around among themselves) and partially to "avoid escalating the conflict" (as if cowardice ever did any good).

Most of the international news these days goes through companies and organizations with a strong Moslem presence in the board of directors. Even Fox is 20% owned by a Saudi prince, how uncensored do you think they can be without running into trouble? (Search on the word "pallywood" some time for a discussion of the source of much of the AP, UPI, and Reuters "news".)

BTW, as an example of news suppression, were you aware of the Cyclosarin  discovered in a bunker with the poison gas type mortar bombs? "No WMDs in Iraq" indeed.
