Good morning Montanan, MT_Sourdough, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83, Old Shooter,TY22, Canon6, burntmuch, Grimjim, CJ, Bilmac, rparsons934 wis_sharpshooter and BBF.

Bright sunny and warm when I let the dogs out this morning, but it is starting to cloud over now.  It 46 degrees right now and suppose to go up in the 50's today.

The refurb of the M-1841 siege gun continues. Need to mount the rub rail on the shooting platform today. Did some rough sanding on the gun tube.  I have been looking at the rim bases of the gun. When I built the gun originally the trunnions were screwed into the tube.  The group I was shooting with would not let me shoot unless the trunnions were welded.  That was done but what is left is an unsightly weld. I don't  think I could file the original form back with out cutting the welds.  I think I will just try and blend them.

Any of you folks coming to Cut Bank to shoot in the Victorian Rifleman Shoot in June?

Good morning all.  Well I won't be able to make the shoot myself, wish I could.  I had xrays taken yesterday of my left hip, man this is really giving me fits.  I hope the xray tech, was not speaking out of turn when he asked me if cancer was an issue with any members of my family.  So, I'm kinda on edge waiting to hear from doctor on those xrays.

Its a little cool, overcast and breezy in Missoula.  I am not working again this week.  It is a good thing that I filled up a freezer last hunting season.
My girlfriend and I are taking a mountain bike ride up into the Rattlesnake today.  It's good excercise, its filled with great views, and there are plenty of critters around.  My girlfriend rides a bit further every time we go.  She already is riding up into the legal hunting area.
Double D, I am not aware of the Victorian rifle shoot.  Can I ask you for some info about it?  Would it be something that would be interesting for the young'ns?
Anyways, you fine folk have yourselves a great day.
Gotta git'me a bigger ice box

I think that person should be fired! It is so wrong to put someone thru that kinda stress!

Sorry to hear that Pard, I hope everthing comes out ok. A friend of ours was told she "might " have breast cancer by a technician, well long story short the technician was full of it but it made her and her husband go thru hell for a few days.  I'm through ranting now!

OH I forgot, good day to you guys! I have been delinquent in my duties and have not been by to say hello in a few days. I so wish I could come to Montana for a visit and go to the shoot. It is on my list of things to do though.

The "big shooter" is looking good DD, What was the problem with the screwed trunnions, wasnt it built that way originally?

The original trunnions were cast integeral with barrel  My trunnions screw into pockets machined in the side of the barrel.  Even tough I set the trunnion in place with a barrel wrench.  During a safety inspection proceeding a match one of the trunnion could be unscrewed by hand.  The strain of firing had loosen it. When we pulled the other trunnion, it was bent and had to be unscrewed all the way with the barrel wrench.

Good Evening Montana!

Had to take the wife down to Wausau today. Was pretty nice out, but at 70 degrees it already felt hot and sweaty. It's weird how sometimes a guy bitches all Winter for it to warm up, then, when the weather starts getting warmer, the same guy bitches about it being to warm. ;)

DD, the refurb of the M-1841 siege gun looks like it's going well.

Montanan, the tech was probably just asking routine questions that he needs to log into his report for the Doctor to read. I wouldn't start worrying yet.

Mt_Sourdough, good for you and the family on that bike riding. Gets the legs and heart in great shape.

Oldshooter, I have also been AWOL in my duties for the last few days. Darn it, we were doing so well. I hope we don't get fired. ;)

What bent was the 3/8-16 threaded stud.  Here's the drawing that I built from.  I enlarged this drawing 1.9 times to build my gun

Montanan, you take care, and show the tech how good ya are with bow and arrow.  Then ask him if his family has any issues with "splinters".  It's not his place to be asking that, that lies with the doctors.  Might mention it to the doc when ya meet with him.  DD, looks like yer havin to much fun with that muzzlestuffer.  I prefer the ones ya can put to yer shoulder myself.  Friend of mine likes the cannons but we don't let him play with them at camp anymore, he starts to many fires. :D  2 canvas tents and 2 sleeping bags so far.  Take care all.  DP
