Another project.

 Just got a 40mm bbl section from cannonmn today. Should make a nice nearly-golf-ball-bore rifled breech loader of some sort. :)





 Now that's a tap (to thread the breech)...

maybe you could shoot english golfballs 
they are just 42 mm in diameter .

but a real projectile would be much better of course .
hope you will keep us updated on this project

how long is that barrel ??

maybe the scotish are even smaller   ;D
but they would probably not shoot straight even in a rifled barrel , because of the whisky  ::)

carronader , why couldnt you build a large caliber cannon and bombard sweden with whisky ???
please aim for my garden  ;D

 Dan,

 It's ~26" long. Tapers from 2.75 - 2.25". ~1/48 twist (has the Bofors gain-twist rifling). 1.575" land, 1.62" groove dia.

 I think I'll try a 1.62" lead ball to see how that shoots, then probably make a slug mould.

do you have any ideas yet what to do from it ??
will it be a "real" breachloader or a muzzle loader style with removeable breachplug ??

yeah of course I am , but been a little busy for a while .
way to much to do and to little time

should have been 48 hours/day and at least 9 days/week  ;D

 Not sure on the style yet.

 Whatever I come up with will be a true breech loader with a cascabel on the end of the breech plug. I plan to drill a hole through the sphere so I can insert a 1/2" diameter rod to unscrew it.

 Think it would look good with a pistol grip?  ;D

victor,  what are you going to screw this rod into?  can't work it out,don't pay much attention to breech loaders,don't do machining you see and I got wonderfull Latin at school instead of the more interesting stuff.never made me any smarter ;D I look at historic buildings and try to think of best way to lay siege to them.

 It won't screw in; it will just be a plain rod about a foot long that will slip into a hole (perpendicular to the bore) in the cascabel. It will be a 'T-handle' to loosen/tighten the threaded breech plug.
