? about 10 ga. accessory barrels
« on: May 08, 2009, 08:35:48 AM »
Does anyone know why H&R will not fit 10 ga. barrels to SB2 or SB1 frames, only to "10 ga. frames", as stated in their acc. barrel brochure?

Not sure on that one. My guess would be that there is something a little different with the frames. Maybe the hinge pin size or something.

Won't fit. The barrels are too big in diameter. That's why the heavy 12 ga ush is on the 10 ga frame

To be specific, the barrel swell on regular shotgun barrels, and all other barrels for that matter, is 1.1" in diameter, the 10ga based barrels are 1.2" in diameter, so the frame opening of the SB2 10ga frame is bigger.

so are the 20 ga and 12 ga slug guns built on the 10ga frame? I saw a 20 ga slug gun at gander for 229.00 that hand a very heavy slug barrel on it.

No, just the 12ga slug guns, the 20ga uses an SB1 frame.

So to be clear, the 12 slug gun with the massive barrel is a 10 ga frame or could be rebarreled to a 10 ga frame.

I had bought a 12 guage new with the standard frame and sent it off for a 12 guage slug hunter and NEF had no problems sawpping barrels.

There are two other rifled 12ga barrels that can be fitted to SB1 frames, the Tracker II and the ULSH which isn't on the accessory barrel list yet. As stated on the accessory barrel list, the #377 (12ga USH barrel) can only be fitted to 10ga frames.
