zinc-core bullets?

Back in the 1960's, a couple of outfits promoted zinc-base bullets for smokeless powder loads.  They came in both swaged and cast formats.  The claim was that you could get much higher velocities without leading problems.  Didn't work so good because zinc leaves barrel deposits too.  Fell out of favor when originator (Harvey?) died.
