FN Winchester Model 70 Featherweight
« on: May 09, 2009, 05:03:16 AM »
I got to play with one yesterday.  Very pretty & well balanced.  $750.00 seems fair.

Folks, all I can say is, that's one fine compliment on the Winchester coming from the Swamper. ;)

You're right Swampman, they are pretty darn nice rifles. I have to compliment your good taste. Now I'm not expecting that you'll go out and buy one. But thanks for at least acknowledging them.

I'd probably buy one in .30-06 if I could afford it.  I'd have to sell my CDL to get the money & I'd hate to do that.

Where did you see it for 750.00? Were you at a chain or a local shop?  I would be interested in one at this price.

It is a "handsome" rifle isn't it.

I haven't seen very many range reports, hopefully it'll shoot as good as it looks.

My next rifle, in all likelihood, will be a South Carolina built M 70.

Thanks, but I was hoping that you would not say that. For some reason, Gun shops in Fla will not sell guns to Louisiana residents. That still sounds like a good deal though.

Call them, I'll bet they will ship it to you.  Go fishing in Destin and pick it up.

Oddly enough, My wife and kids lived in Destin for a year after Katrina and I tried to buy a couple of guns while there and I was told that I couldn't buy one with my La. lic. Shipping may get around that though. I may give them a call. Thanks for the heads up. Do you remember what calibers that they had in stock?

The one I saw was a .270.  They said they could get the others.  A magnum caliber will cost more.
