Its been a long season for me, but on 06 May, I finally got my bird. It's a jake this year but not a bad one. 17Lbs, 6" beard, and 5mm spurs (lol)
. Two firsts for me this year. This was the closest bird that I have shot to date (15yds) and it's my first bird in the woods. In my neck of the woods we have a alot of small wood lots surrounded by fields and tree/ ditch lines. All of my birds before this have been shot in the cut crop fields. I must say, the close quarters of woods hunting is pretty awesome.
He and two other jakes gobbled all the way in and I didnt even see then until they were 35yds out. I was in some thick stuff!
