5.7 for yotes?
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:52:23 AM »
I'm just curious if any one has tried using the 5.7x28 on yotes. I know many people have used a 22mag and since the 5.7 is similar to a 22mag topped with a better bullet, it should work. Obviously, one would be limited in range, say 150yrds. I'm in the process of putting together a new 223 AR pistol for next season and I keep seeing the 10.5" barrel 5.7 uppers and can't help but like the idea. Definately not route I'll take in the end but I figure somebody must be using one already.
My friends have always been there for me. They encourage me to make new mistakes instead of the same old ones.

I was looking at one as a rifle and realized it was the same as my 22 Hornet and the hornet works great for Coyote.
Good luck.

It is more than a 22mag. More energy at 150yds than a Mag at the muzzle. This round interests me as well. I have a Mag and a 221fb don't know if I need a Hornet or 5.7x28mm type round.

Due to the size of the round it would be easy for Ruger to do the M77/22 frame in it.
It would just need a rotary mag for it.
