Good morning Montanan, MT_Sourdough, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83, Old Shooter,TY22, Canon6, burntmuch, Grimjim, CJ, Bilmac, rparsons934 wis_sharpshooter and BBF.

When I opened the door this morning to let the dogs out I had clear blue skies, no wind and 38 degrees.  Looking to be a beautiful day.  When I saw your post Canon, I went out and looked again.  No shange, still clear blue skys , the wind has come up a bit andit's now 41 degress.  I checked accuweather and its supposed to be in the 50's here today.  50% chance of rain this afternoon and evening.  Well what do we expect it's spring in Montana.

I'm with Jon, I'm going to stay away from Canon's part of the state---Butte.  I see that northern edge of the big  weather front that is supposed to dump on Nebraska later this week passing through the Southern part of the state.

Got a burner set up yesterday for lead melting and tried it with the pot Southpaw made me for my Zinc Furnace.  Melted some zinc scrap.  The liettle burner puts out some heat.  Got all the hair on my hands singe off quite nicely.  Yeah, Yeah, supposed to put on my gloves, but, but...

Did get 4 lbs of zinc ingots plus 16 lbs of lead our of the lead pot.  While going through some ammo boxes looking for some brass  I came across "pot bottoms" of lead.  Not sure what they are, most likely wheel weight. Well they are all going into the 1 inch cannon ball pot.

I also found several large ingots of zinc that I am going to have ot carry up to Southpaw's to cut on his saw so they wll fit in the pot.  May take a run up that way tomorrow.

Good Morning all of you fine Montanans, and everyone else from other states!

It's a pretty nice day here in NE Wisconsin: partly cloudy, possible highs in the upper 60s. Feels more like Fall, but that's my favorite time of the year.

Took 50 rounds of .223s to the range yesterday to try different weights of Varget: 23.5, 24.0, 24.5, 25.0, and 25.5 (ten of each), behind 69.0gr. Nosler HPBTs, Winchester Brass, and CCI 400 primers. Definitely grouped best with 25.5, but nothing exceptional yet. Next step will be to play with the seating depths of the bullets.

Hope you folks have a great day.

Mike

Good morning t'all'ya fine folk
I am sitting here thinking that I really want to get a bicycle scabbard.  A guy makes them here in Missoula and they are only 50 bucks or so.  I would really dig being able to use one on my bicycle to get back to some areas away from crowds and do some scouting and then some shooting.  The sling is not a good option for bicycle use because it moves around even when you cross shoulder it.  Some of my rifles, 22 and 30-30, dont even have slings.  The bicycle scabard is light weight and secures a rifle nicely.  It was actually designed originally for carrying a bow so that could be helpful in the future when I get around to broadenning my horizons.
I want to get out and do some scouting today, but dont know where.
Canon, you are in Butte?  I grew up in Butte (and Browns Gulch).  I wanna go back and visit my old stomping grounds and scout my favorite piece of Montana.  There, around the house I lived in up in Browns Gulch, are plenty of elk.  Many more now than have ever been up there before.  So many, they are tearing up the place.  It seems sappling trees dont stand a chance up there.
Anyway, I gotta get going.  I gotta go act like a tick bait.
  Have a good day

Gotta git'me a bigger ice box
