« on: May 14, 2009, 05:29:02 PM »
The toms were quiet last weekend...I spotted this one with a hen and was able to put a stalk on him, I sealed the deal @ 10 yds and had 3 minutes of hunting time to spare Very lucky once again.:D

I think you put the hunt on the turkey. I bet alot of your buddies can call in a turkey, but I bet not one on tem of them can stalk one to within 10 yards.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Gunslinger; I've hunted turkeys here in Missouri since the early 1960's. Don't let anybody tell you that it does'nt take hunting skill to do what you did! It's no small skill put a stalk on a wild turkey. I know the thrill of what you did. I have some great stories to tell about turkey hunting that most people simply would not believe. I killed my second bird this year and never made a yelp. Pure and simple hunting skills. Know what to do under certain condition's is what its all about. It's a lot more than just calling. Skill and knowledge of what they like to do. I hunt all public land and very little private land. No two turkey's are alike. Keep the memory alive.   Jenks

thanks for the replies fellas..I was sorta put off by they're ribbing...but instead of arguing the point I just told them  to give it a try...anyone should be able to crawl 300+ yds across a hayfield without getting spotted. I will say the rolling terrain did work in my favor. I've done the same thing to down a nice doe w/my recurve but in the fall most of the bales are still in the field.

My first turkey was in Florida, with a Jeep Cherokee.  I didn't hit as much as it hit me.  I was driving on a back road and heard a loud thump on the side of my Jeep, got out and saw a large tom hobbling away.  I grabbed an old towel and placed it over it's head, had it for Thanksgiving that year and have been hooked ever since, only now I use either crossbow or shotgun.
