3200 for .270

After much thought, I finally decided to get a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3-9X40 for my .270 Mauser project.  I wanted a Leupold, but I just didn't want to spend the money.  I hope the eye relief is adequate for the .270.

I almost went with another Nikon Prostaff 3-9X40 but after 3-4 weeks of playing with scopes (at the store)the 3200 got the nod.

My brother has had one on a 700 rem. .270 for a couple of years and has had good luck with it!!!

You could have got the Nikon Monarch 3x9x40 BDC that is called the Primos at the same price if not for less than the 3200. The Monarch is the older one and has better glass than the 3200 IMO.

I paid $170.00 for the 3200 3-9X40.

Thats a very good price and does beat the Monarchs I priced at about $229. Good luck with your new scope.

I have not owned any scope that was not a Leupold for about 30 years.  I have nothing against any other brands - just trust what has always worked and I could afford to stay with Leupold.  I have about a dozen.  Regarding eye relief, I have two scars that form a perfect "X" over my nose and between my eye brows.  One scar was from a left handed shot angling downward with a 30-06.  I saw stars.  The rifle was nested in my armpit and not on my shoulder.  The opposite scar was from a heavy 25-06 that was settled in sands bags and unsupported.  She jumped back at the shot.

Eye relief problems in my 40 years of experience, have come from shooter errors, more so than from manufacturer limitations.  Ask anyone with a cresent scar over their nose.  They will probably tell you the same.  A steeply downhill shot is going to get you every time.

Eye relief should be fine for your 270 and the 3200 - remember to dial up the magnification when you are finalizing your placement in the rings as relief will diminish.

I had a little ring trouble.  The vintage Weaver lows I was saving for this project were too low & the bolt handle wouldn't come all the way back.  A set of Warne mediums were way too high & pretty unattractive.  I found the Burris Zee lows to work perfectly & look great.  The gloss steel Buris rings match the rifle's finish & make the matte finished scope look great too.
