.348 roundball mold
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:40:54 AM »
My rifle uses a .348 ball. Once I had, or so I thought a lifetime supply of them. Now I am nearly out. Who makes a .348 roundball mold? I can use .350 but then I have to go with a thinner (flimsy) patch or use a short starter to load. With the .348 I can load without a short starter and attain the same level of accuracey.

Thanks but I really need the .348 dimension. In trying different loads and patch/ball combinations I have found the .348 to be the best fit. I have yards of matress covering from uncle sam and when used in conjunction with that, the .348 allows me to load a patched ball with thumb pressure and ram rod alone. If I go to a heavier/ bigger ball, loading becomes harder, a starter being required to set the ball into the barrel.  For the added effort I get no increase in accuracy.
