After using a heavier gun than my field gun I was missing most of my crossing shots in skeet. Yesterday I just shot crossing shots with the field gun to master the lead. It seems the lead I need for that gun is much greater than the lead for the longer barreled target gun. It's really amazing. I thought I must be shooting ahead of the clays with the field gun because it's so light and whippy compared to the target gun. Not true. The target gun's momentum does make the need for lead with it seem shorter.
Perceived lead at the time the shell fires is about 3 feet for the field gun and about a foot for the target gun.
