Blooded the Blaser - My first fox :D
« on: May 22, 2009, 05:17:39 PM »
Just got back from a quick spotlighting trip on a prop just out of town
The mission was to blood the Blaser on any pesky varmint we might see, this time 2 weeks ago I'd got home from a disappointing wild dog hunt, Tonight had to be different  ;)

First thing we saw was a hare 150m away running over the hill, to fast for me
Next we check the back paddocks, past a few wallaby's and got to the last paddock on the block and saw what we've never seen on this farm before, looked just like what was in those http://www.temporaryhappiness.com/ videos that left an impression on me years back, the Fox stood still and let me squeeze of a 40gr BT from my .222 R93 barrel into his chest

He dropped on the spot  :D

Search a bit more for another 1/2hr and bagged 3 hares

Sunny side up as the cocky says lol

All kills were bang flops (if that wasn't obvious ;) ) my new Elite 6500 2.5-16x42 scope was a pleasure to use & I'm all round very satisfied with the scope/rifle/ammo combination :)

Good stuff cccombo , as the cooler months come the shooting starts to picks up , the .222 sure tore those Hares up . I've read a bit about the Blazer range - nice rifles . Hows that scope up on 16 X in the field - never used more than a 9 X - should be a top combo for 200 yard Bunny busting .

I didn't use it above 8X last night, and I don't think I will ever need 16X for spotlighting its more for load development and possible longer shot at day time or long range varmint with the 7mm08 Blaser barrel

I also just like the flexibility of a R93 and a 2.5-16 scope :)

nice one mate!

those blasers are an interesting design, and with your 222 and 7-08 barrels you have it all pretty much covered....

Great shooting there, cccombo.
Those 40gr Noslers are the duck's guts.
I use them in my old Sportco Martini Hornet and they simply detonate hares and foxes.
