This morning I took a little hunt for coyotes looking for a free meal in the form of antelope fawns. Saw two, but one must have recognized my old truck cuz he was leaving the country at high speed when I was still a long distance away,

I spent some time looking over a new ranch I can hunt for coyotes, as I was returning on an old two track, I spotted a dog in the bottom of a small wash. He stood in the sage hoping I didn't spot him I guess.

I got the .25-06 on his chest and squeezed one off. He did a spin, and took off down the wash.

I had a pretty good hold, and was surprised when he didn't drop.

I drove down and decided to have a look arond. My golden picked up the scent, and we moved up the draw. She stopped and was smelling something, but acted strange, When I got there, the coyote was down, but not dead. I gave him a 125 grain Rem. from the S & W 38 . He went to the big pasture in the sky. I either pulled my shot, or he was quartered away when I shot. The 75 grain Vmax hit too far back, but didn't exit that I could see. I suppose he was about 250 yards at the shot. These little animals really amaze me. They are TOUGH< TOUGH
