I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the .17 HMR as far as accuracy goes. They all seem to be tack drivers.

I don't think a LR can be converted to 17 or 22 mag as the firing pins do not line up. have a 17 with a 22 mag barrel and am very satisfied with the combo

It's done all the time, but at the cost accessory barrels now, buying a complete rimfire rifle doesn't cost a lot more. With fitting and shipping both ways, cost for a 17hmr accessory barrel is about $130, Bud's has rilfes for $159 shipped.

Montveil, all rimfire Sportsters use the same SS1 frame.  ;)

My hmr shoots like a laser beam. I finally got the chance to use it on p-dogs on saturday. I made 4 good kills past 300 yards and that was with a 5mph crosswind. Closer kills were numerous and spectacular for no bigger than a .17 cal 17 grain bullet is.
