TC Omega Blow By

I keep reading about tc blow by.  Is it blow by around the breech plug through the threads or through the breech plug by the primer?  I ask because i've been shooting BH209 for the last 2 years and I have a lot of blow by around the primer, I think.  I don't remember it back when I was using pyrodex, but that's been several years ago.  I also wonder if I need a new breech plug because you can see little channels next to the hole through the plug which kinda look like pressure is making a new way out around the primer.  The channels are where the primer bottom out not on the sides of the primer pocket, if that make any sense.

What primers are you using?? I ask because I bought some winchester triple se7en primers and when fired it looks like blow-by but they are just that dirty...just firing one without any powder or bullet blew crap up on to the bottom of my scope. I switched back to standard 209 primers problem solved!!!

You definitely need a new breech plug if you are getting gas cutting in the bottom of the primer pocket. You can also bet that your flash hole has also eroded and enlarged, thus making things worse.

I have some plugs that give a perfect seal with o-ring in the bottom. The only problem with that is the primers themselves sometimes leak soot between the primer and battery cup leaving a small soot ring on the breech.

Get yourself a new breech plug, then see how things go. You may also have to adjust your breech block lock-up to make it tighter.

like was mentioned in the previous post, primers can make a difference, but get a new breech plug first.

I have used several different types of primers, but right now I'm using remington sts primers.  The other day just popping off a primer to clear any oil out, smoke was coming out of the barrel up by where the ram rod goes in, out the sides, and everywhere else.

My Omega started to get bad primer fouling and blowback after about 400 shots. A new breech plug cleared it right  up.  When I compared the flash holes of the old with the new B/P... I couldn't detect any noticable difference... guess it doesn't take much, since the new one solved the problem.

Oh yeah... I use the Rem STS with BH209.
